Trouble with HyperTerminal on Cisco 1720

by llama . Updated 23 years, 11 months ago

I have a client who used to have a T-1 line into their office. He took it out and now uses DSL. (only 5 users) But he had a Cisco 1720 collecting dust and asked if I wanted it. Of course I said yes so I could practice and play with it. But when I connect using Hyper Terminal, it says I’m connected but when I hit enter I can’t get to the prompt. I’m using a management cable (serial DB 9 on one end and RJ-45 on the other) from a Cisco 678. I’m going 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bitand no flow control. The two lights that are on are solid green for power and solid green for OK. Any help will be appreciated!
