Trouble with Internet

This morning I downloaded an update for RealPlayer. After it was complete I could no longer access the internet.
I cannot log into any web pages. I get a
“The connection was reset” message.

Computer says internet is connected. Network Magic shows computer is connected and internet connection is working OK.

I suspect the Realplayer download changed a setting?

Computer is a Sony Vaio desktop running XP. Router is a D-Link WBR-2310. Computer is hardwired to router.

I cannot access any web pages.

Would appreciate help.
