Troubleshooting errors across a Trunk (DOT1Q)

by sgs_gti_jay . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

Problem I’m seeing at the moment is as follows.

2 Cisco switches (2950G-12-EI – 2924M-XL)

I have 1 trunk set up between the 2 switches, I’m not seeing any errors on the 2950 side (FA0/12) but on the 2924 switch (FA0/1) I’m seeing some errors – 15 input errors, 13 CRC, 2 frame

if anyone has any helpful input on correcting the issue or things i can try out please let me know. I’ve tested my cable with a fluke tester and the cable is good physically end to end.

Additional Details :

I’m noticing that 1 end of this link drops out periodically. I’ve follows cisco’s recommendations for the port settings on each side of the Trunk for the hardware listed, I notice that on the 2924 switch the port goes down hence the trunk drops and shows disconnected. On the 2950 side the link appears as up and spanning tree states it’s still FWD’ing on the port.

I’m not too sure if this is a possible bug with 12.0 IOS on the 2924 or if the problem lies deeper.

Please post any info if you have any suggestions

Best Regards,
