Twin Processor Web server setup

We have just upgraded our web server to a twin processor 12Gb RAM machine. (from a 4gb machine) Problem is, we are still getting time outs at certain times of the day.

We have “heard” it is best to split the OS (Now using Enterprise, not standard) onto one CPU and the SQL db on another?

With only 1000 hits a day to our web application, we would have thought our server would be very quick with this upgrade.

Any ideas to help, before our customers complain too much!
