I just joined a company that has two businesses running from the same building. The first business is owned by the Dad, and the second by the Son.
Dad’s business has a DSL connection to the Internet, and Son’s business leaches off this connection. Both have SBS 2003 servers running, and Son configured things so the DSL forwards the ports for SMTP, but now Daddy wants SMTP email too.
From the Internet here are how things have been setup for me to fix…
Dad’s: Internet > DSL > 8 port switch > 16 port switch > server and workstations.
Son’s: Internet > DSL (same as above) > 8 port switch (same as above) > 8 port router > server and workstations.
Question: How should this be setup so that both can access SMTP email and both networks can’t see each other? (yeah, I know…tell sonny to grow up and do his own Internet connection, but that is not possible, as Dad pays everything for sonny’s business and he wont pay for more network parts or another Internet connection…been there, tried that!)
