two router/firewall solution

I have a server that is connected to the internet and want to have an extra level of security. So far I have only had 1 router/firewall that forward all the desired traffic to the server.
I have another router that I can put in place between the internet router and the server, however I don’t a anything to serve as a DMZ in between the two.
Is it worth it to implement this second router or should I try a different solution?
