U2 Database Extraction

I am attempting to display the data from universe data files. The VMark Universe is running on a DG/UX Server. The .profile in the user account executes the command
“exec uv”.
The application runs on stdout. I belive that the way to capture the universe shell commands is to turn on “COMO” command log. When I attempt to execute a “logto” command the a UV Account with which I can access the correct data files, I get a prompt for a user id and password.
Is there a better way to convert the files to text?
