Unable to access private folder in xp

Story: after a big crash of the system files i was reinstall windows xp with the same user informations. from the previous installation the folder document’s and setting’s was ok.
inside this was a private folder with all my document’s . After the new installation i cant access this folder, the message is (access denied) i cant move it nor copy it ! the cacls dosnt work either. Any suggestion to take my files ????
