Unable to access Shared Drive!!

by basharath2 . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

I have a weird problem to solve. One of my clients is unable to access shared drives from Home. He connects to VPN and could access all other resources well and fine like email, Intranet web pages, internal messaging tool and everything else. And the strange part is that he can access the same shared drive when in at work i.e., connecting directly to the intranet. The strange error message would be something like this:
Error: Unable to access X:\shared drive path. Could not find the domain or domain controller.

I assumed it to be a DNS issue and added DNS suffixed needed and reinstalled “Clients for Microsoft Networks”. Stll it was not resolved.
I Uninstalled and checked if it is an issue with Firewall like BlackIce but with no luck.

Computer is added to the domain correctly and I have tried remapping the drives but to my surprise I could not remap it when he was connected from home. Got error “Network path could be found”

Here is the summary

OS: Win XP pro
Domain Environment
Connecting with Cisco VPN Client
Network : LAN

Any ideas/suggestions/advice/solution will highly appreciated.
