Unable to access “View Network Computers”

by twisties34 . Updated 16 years, 7 months ago

Been called into a local store, their POS has gone done. Boss had installed Nortons Utilities on the server in the back office, for some reason this has disabled the network that connects to the two front POS units – although they all have Internet access.

I’ve re-ran the network setup on all 3 systems, all three are on the same network domain with different names. POS 2 & 3 can see each other over the network but cannot access POS 1 (server).

POS 1 cannot access “View Network Computers” – the link is available but clicking on it only results in a “Dong sound”.

PING is fine, it sends and receives all four packets to the DNS Suffix 10.1.1.2.

Also checked MSDN website for a fix, and found this resource http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903267 but this didn’t apply as neither of the * NodeType * DhcpNodeType are listed in the right hand panel.

Any ideas on what to do next – other than formatting and re-installing Windows?
