Unable to change adapters

I have installed a second video card in a client PC. Windows tells me that the card is initialized. When I look in Device Manager I am being told the I need to unload EMM386.exe or other memory manager for Multiple Monitor support to enable. I have looked in sysedit and I dont see EMM386. Any suggestions.
