unable to format c drive of windows xp

I formated complete system but while (formating)installation of xp i tried to format the c drive, on which windows was installed but system was unable to format it in normal mode only in quick it formated.

I was forced to install xp on d drive.

even after formating i found that in c drive there exists a virus in which folder is created within a folder.

How to resolve this problem??
