Unable to print in some programs.

I am running NT 4.0 on a school wide network and using a mandatory roaming profile for the students. I have a HP laserjet 4050 and a HP inkjet 2000C connected to the network. I can print just fine using MS Office programs but when I try to print from Acrobat reader I get the dialog box that says I need to choose a default printer, and when I try to print from IE 5.5 the job is never sent to the print manager. According to the print manager the laserjet is set as default and everyone has printing permission. Logged on as administrator there is no problem. Any ideas??
