Unbiased Storage unit testing/benchmarking

I would like to find a source of information that shows testing/benchmarking results on storage units. I know about the SPC but since the manufacture sets up the storage unit they can “tinker” with the units setting to reach best performance for the specific test. I would prefer to see the testing done in a “real world” scenario where multiple types of IO (databases, file servers, applications) are running at the same time. Any help in finding such a source of information would be greatly appreciated.
