What is a computer vs. a mainframe? First a computer is capable of orderly tasks and projects by assignment to the task; as long as it is with in the abilities of the programming & software, in a mainframe it has to be within the capabilities of the hardware and the hardware design.
Exception: A UNIX
Now how is it that a Unix falls within the shere of computer as well as that of Mainframe? primarily becauseof the materials it was originally composed of: wood, White Grease and Castor Grease, also they have been in use and manufacture for six or seven hundred years, it is also solely of Earth origin and manufacture for our use to my knowledge. The other factor is the development of the manner of operation; this in that it is the only ARTICLE that works on the basis of assignning volumne to the job, note the Dupont mainframe spoken of in ” Is That A Mainframe In My Screen ” Tech Republic Projects.
The only other Volumne operation computer or mainframe out there that I could Find is the Crays, I called Cray and they ran a scenario of assignment on a Crey and confirmmed the above and I don’t know when they will publish, this is mine.
