Currently I have a small LAN (50 XP users) who logon to to our domain through a NT4 PDC. This is also the file server for the domain. For security and the learning experieince I would like to change the PDC to a Win2K server, & retain the NT4 box as the file server but am unsure how to go about this safely. How do I change the NT PDC to a DC and promote the 2K box to a PDC for users to logon to the domain. There are no batch files or scripts in the NT logon folder, so presumably it is the user settings (SAMS DB) I need to export to 2K. An important factor is that I do not lose any local settings (Outlook/desktop etc) for the XP users or I will be lynched…
Any advice or better ways of achieving this would be appreciated & thanx for your time..
