Upgrade of W2K Adv Server to Server2003

Our company has 1 Domain Controller and approx 40 PC’s on it.

We do not use Exchange Server for email.
I am now preparing a NEW server with Server2003 and would like to set it up with the same Domain Name and the same DC name, so that when I change over all clients will not even no there was an change.

All of the clients have share pointing to the current DC (eg \\pcname\d or some such) so I would not want to have change all tghe clients

In addition when testing it I found that when the client logged on, a NEW documents and setting folder was created which is a bit of a problem with Outlook emails

I’d appreciate any help in how to set up the new server

Can I create the DC stand alone, and simply swap Servers;
