USB Port: Writ Protection

by nickburke . Updated 16 years, 9 months ago

Hi all,

I have searched and not found a fix to this so need to pick some peoples minds.

I am having an issue with my USB ports, i plug in a USB stick, External Hard drive, ect, and I can access the files on it and use them, however when i got to save back to the drive it says the drive is write protected.

I have tried flipping the switch on the key, that wasn’t the problem. I have tried different USB stick and even my iPod, and my eBook Hard drive does the same thing. The files I am trying to move around are not write protected either.

If it helps to know normal devices work like mouses and keyboards.

I believe this is a software issue but not sure where it may be occurring.

Some system details:
Windows Vista Ultimate
Asus G1s Laptop

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated as i flying through my Blank CDs very quickly 🙂
