USB serial port serial port controller Windows 7 home edition 32 bit

I have just purchased a USB t0 RS232 cable, and cannot install the driver.
All my ports in device manager are bluetooth serial ports or wireless.
I do not really want to purchase one, otherwise I will just go back to XP Pro
