USB Suddenly stopped working

I brought a USB Hub from the market and tried to test . After connecting two devices to the Hub all of sudden my all 6 USB port stopped functioning . Is it All my USB port are gone or is there a way out ?
Initially there was a conflict in the device manager which I resolved after loading the device driver along with the XP . Now there are no more conflict and the device manager is recognizing the USB ports but still it is not working . Is it due to short circuit the USB ports are gone . Please suggest ?
