USB to parallel printer

Hi. I had a vintage Epson 1500 Laser printer hooked to my newish Dell Laptop with a USB to parallel cable, until we moved. Now I can’t get it to work. Theoretically, the find new hardware should respond when I plug it in, but it doesn’t. So: anyone know what port I should use, or how to configure it?
