USB Wireless Adapter

Will a USB wireless dongle work in a USB 1 port on W98ME?
The OVISLINK W54USB works fine in a USB 2 pc running XP but on the former it drops connections every 2 or 3 minutes and then just fails to recognise any network. The manufacturers driver states that it supports W9x.
