User Account Migration between Windows Server 2000

by tonymtdew . Updated 18 years, 5 months ago

I am attempting to migrate a small amount of user profiles (~100) between 2 Windows Server 2000 boxes. I have tried a couple migration tools without success.

If I:
Right click My Computer on OLD box
Select Properties
Go to User Profiles tab
I can copy the profiles to the NEW box’s drive under the Standard C:\documents and settings\username

I did this individually with each account.

When I test an account, the profile is ignored by the system on login, and creates the USERNAME.DOMAIN profile, which obviously will cause problems with end users.

Question: How can I force windows to recognize the copied profiles instead of ignoring them? The NEW box will have the same name and IP address as the old box when the switch occurs.

Is there an easy and better migration tool? Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Anthony
