User Profile and Login Name Conflict

by syedali1975 . Updated 18 years, 1 month ago

Hi,
I have two machines one is running Windows XP Pro SP2 and other having Windows Vista Home Premium and on both machines I have SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 installed.
My question is on both machines in order to login to SQL Servers using Windows Authentication (I set up using Mixed Mode) I need to add windows NT login name in administrator group of SQL Server. I have add the NT login name to admin security group of SQL Server but when I tried to login to the server using Windows Authentication I got error message that user name and password is incorrect.

Then finally I found out that on both the machines I changed the login name of the Windows NT administrator but the user profile still having the old login name, when I changed the Login name it just changed the login name but didn’t changed the user profile associate with the old login name when I create the user first time. So I had to add the user profile name then the SQL Server on both machines allowed me login using windows authentication.

I would like to know is there a way to change the user profile to reflect the new windows Login name in order to avoid the confusion?

Thanks in advance.
