User Roaming Profiles in Root Directory

by whatme? . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

I have made all my users roaming profiles and stored them on PDC in c:\WinNT\Profiles\%username%. I have stored all their home files on the BDC in g:\Users\%username%
Here are some problems.
#1. My root directory is running low on Disk space. I have over 400 users profiles stored in the root.
# 2. My users, when saving work still saves into their Personal Folder which ends up being stored in the root Directory of the PDC.

#3. When a user does go to save as… like I said, their personal folder on that individual computer comes up as default. The user has to click on a link “Users on server2” and then scroll down to find their individual folder.

Questions.
Can I save their Profiles to another Drive on the PDC.0r BDC Say: \\server\UserProfiles\username. (UserProfiles) being a shared folder on drive D

How can I set the users home files so that is the default save folder for them ? and can I set it so that a shortcut automatically is put on their desktop when they log in.
How can I lock it down so that home folder or “A” drive is the only places that they may save to?

If it is possible to change locations of Users Profiles, then how can I move them? and if it is possible then why couldn’t a person use that “personal” folder of the profile on the “Users” share of the server?

Thank you
You may also Email me your answers if you like so that I may “try them out” before I give any Points away

Thank you
