Users get disconnected from Server Shares

I have a server (running server 2000) that acts as the data share, I also have a back up server (pc with server 2000) that DFS stopped working awhile back and is basically acting as a print server right now.

The problem is; my users are constantly being disconnected from the shared folders on the main server. The only way I can give them access to the folders again is to reboot the back up server. I have to do this about a dozen times a day. It’s been happening for a couple of weeks now and I can’t figure it out.

Anyone ever have this happen and if so, how did you correct the problem? Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.
