I just implemented a Windows 2003 AD and File Server. The server is running Windows Server 2003 and is fully patched. The clients are all running Windows XP Pro SP2. They are using MS Office 2003. They can copy & paste files to and from the shared folders but, if they try to just open a file on a share with Word or Excel, it gives them an error: “You cannot access this file”. I have even gone so far as giving the user group they are in full control on the shares and still get the same problem. I am running Vista and Office 2007 and can open the files with no problems (unless it is a file that some one had an error on, then it tells me the file is already open). I am a member of the Administrators group. I know I have to missing something in the permissions or a setting, any one have any ideas?
