Using VPN only for torrenting?

Is it possible to download a torrent with a VPN on, directly from the client? Like can my IP that’s downloading the torrent be different than my normal one. I have a Plex server and the only way to give remote access is to port forward, and when I do that with a VPN it gets all messed up. Is it possible to have the torrent use a VPN, while simultaneously browsing the web without one? An odd question, I know.
