I have a strange problem. I have about 40 computers on the 192.168.1.0 network that access the Internet through a single gateway. Today some of the computers and/or users seem to have lost the ability to connect to the Internet.
We took one user (User A) who was having problems logging into the Internet from his computer (Computer A) and rebooted the machine…no change. We logged of User A and had the Domain administrator logged on to Computer A and the Administrator was able to get to the Internet. We had User A go to another Computer B and User A was able to login and access the Internet.
What could possibly be causing this problem? It just started happening today?
What’s changed? Nothing. However I was in the middle of planning a strategy to create a OU and GPO to restrict certain users from accessing the Internet. In doing that I created a UO called Restricted Users from the AD Users and Computers module on one of the Exchnasge Servers, which is not the Primary DC where the AD is installed on. I looked at some of the settings that can be used to to restrict a users access so I could document the steps and have the Domain administrator perform them. I did not actually set anything in the GPO and I eventually deleted the GPO and the OU.
So my question is. Is it possible that my evaluation caused this wierd problem or culd something else be at work here?
