Very slow Outlook–rejects plug-ins, Opens twice when I click once . . .

This is my work computer, but all IT wants to do is dump everythink and reload it. I’d like to find the problem.

The whole computer is slowing down, but Outlook seems worse than anything. When I click it once (not double-click), it usually opens twice, then hangs up, and I have to close both and start over, which causes it to have to check my data for about 1/2 hour before I can read email. We repaired Office yesterday–didn’t help. It also sometimes comes up with error messages saying various plug-ins are causing problems, like the Snag-it plugin or our backup plugin.

I’ve done a disk check and virus/spyware scan and I’ve tried to do a cleanup and registry cleaner with the online Microsoft tool, but they get to about 6% and hang up.

Since it’s New Year’s Eve (anybody working out there?) I’m going to do a de-frag when I leave today. Maybe it’ll be done by Monday. . .

Also, my Internet Explorer takes FOREVER to start up and make a connection. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Oh . . . I’m running XP with Office 2007 and Internet Explorer 7. something.
