viewing photos via mobile on smart TV ??

Im trying to use my mobile on my smart tv -to view photos -vie usb cable- not having much luck – & no one has made it easy straight forward.
My phone mentioned something that I may need an app called “smart switch” which I needed to download 1st – also did not work !! do need 2 copies of this app ?? I have it installed on mobile. But when I want to connect it to my Tv -it says can not connect !! Are there any easier ways of doing this ?? any youtube examples ??
