Virtual Private Network (VPN)

I have a small Win2000 LAN. The PDC is a Win2000 Server using Active Directory.

I have a cable modem connected to a stand-alone Win2000 server. I share the modem connection with the LAN using WinProxy. I also use Zone Alarm on this server.

I have successfully set up RRAS on the stand alone server and connected from my laptop using VPN; however, I would prefer to connect directly to the PDC (through the stand-alone server and WinProxy) using RRAS and VPN.

I can trace this attempted VPN connection through Zone Alarm and WinProxy (I created a connection using port 1723 pointing to the PDC) but I get the message “there is no answer”.

It seems the answer must lie in how I set up RRAS on the PDC.
