My goal here is to download a trial of VSphere and set it up so I can get some experience with it. My understanding is that the minimum requirements for VSphere is at least a dual-processor machine.
My question is that if I get a single-processor computer (I need to get a new computer anyway), load an OS, and run VMWare server, Virtual Box, or whatever, and create a virtual machine with 2 processors, will I be able to install VSphere on that?
I’ve tried this already on a computer with a 64-bit, dual-core processor. Even though I specified a 64 bit OS and 2 processors when going to install the virtual VSphere, I got an error right away saying I didn’t have 64 bit. I’m assuming it is because the host operating system was 32 bit. Unfortunately, I don’t have the spare hardware hanging around to see if it will work on a 64 bit host OS, and I wanted to see if anyone else has done this sort of thing before I go buying hardware.
Thanks
