I have two computers, one running Windows XP Home SP2 and the Windows Vista Home Premium SP1. They are both connected to the same ISP throught the same wireless router and ADSL line. I have administrator privileges on both and both are running Windows firewall, Windows Defender and CA anti-virus.
I type “ftp://prwatson.co.uk” into the address bar of Internet Explorer.
The XP computer shows “FTP root at prwatson.co.uk” then I click “Page” then “Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer”. I type in my user name/password and the site opens in Windows Explorer.
The Vista computer shows “Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage”. I have tried (without success):
a) Opening port 21 in the firewall
b) Checking “Enable FTP folder view (outside of Internet Explorer)” in Advanced Internet Options
c) Unchecking “”Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility)” in Advanced Internet Options
d) Turning off the firewall
e) Forwarding Port 21 in the wireless router
f) Using Microsoft FrontPage to open the FTP site
g) Setting up a network location for the FTP site in My Computer – it just says “Windows cannot access this folder”
Please can anyone help me?
