Vista DvD Drive not listed in computer

I have an acer aspire notebook, its dvd drive is not listed under my computer, and the only device listed under disc drives in device manager is WDC WD2500BEVS-22USTO ATA Device.

recently installed software:Daemon tools lite, avast anti virus, and several old games i run off of a daemon tools virtual drive.

when i press the eject button on the drive the LED lights orange and then it opens.

any chance someone knows what’s wrong?
