Vista Ultimate and Xp Pro Wireless Network Networking and Internet access

by sailing . Updated 19 years, 2 months ago

I have setup Vista Ultimate as the main small network server with a dedicated IP on the wireless network connection.
The other two XP pro machines all with the same login name and password and same workgroup
This network is using a wireless adhoc network (NO Router)
All the machines work correctly within the network and I can see all files from all machines both ways and ping all machines from any machine, I have turned off all firewalls and virus software , SO far no problems

The vista machine connects directly to the Internet through a wireless modem and this works well and Internet shareing has been tuned on.
HOWEVER I cant get the other two XP machines to connect to the internet through the vista machine
I can ping the vista machine 192.168.0.1 and all works fine
however I cant ping any IP address outside the network from the xp machines
the gateway has been setup to the vista machines ip address on the xp machines and I have also tried setting the DNS up at 192.168.0.1 on the xp machines as well. Sometimes I get the name to resolve to a Ip but the ping does not continue ie iinet.net.au.

still no Conection through to the internet
I suspect a block in the vista system somewhere

Has anyone got any sugestions as to what I should try to get this working
