VMware Tools – what do I gain by installing them?

I’m running a Fedora 7 virtual machine under VMware Server on an XP SP 2 box. I’m having trouble installing the VMware Tools for the Fedora client. Can anyone tell me what functionality VMware Tools brings to either the client or the server, and if it’s worth continuing to pursue?
