Ages ago before VPN was even a consideration my networking environment was built using the non-routable 192.168.1.x subnet. As we have added more and more remote users problems have arisen with troublesome VPN connections. I am aware that the difficulties stem from the fact that MOST home routers and many public access points also use the 192.168.1.x subnet by default. I realize that the only way we can truly avoid this issue is to use a different internal subnet. I recently tested two laptops on a linksys router with default config and had one laptop fail to connect while the did connect but with mixed results.
