Vpn-can ping by ip not name

Hi,
I recently setup a vpn, connecting two firewalls together.It is a windows nt4.0 network to a windows 2000 network. From the windows 2000 network I can ping other computers on the the nt4.0 side, but only by ip address I cannot ping by name, the only machine I could ping by name is the PDC. I also have a hp printer on the 2000 network, being shared. How can I print to it from the nt4.0 side.
Any help would be appreciated.
