VPN connection troubleshooting

Hi,

Have a Watchguard Firebox firewall setup for my W2k network. The phone company setup this box (whithout my knowledge, and I’m reliant on them for its administration — that’s another story) I am able to connect thru the VPN for w2k clients using the connection wizard, but I can’t connect using any XP machine. The internal firewall has been turned off in the XP machines. I haven’t needed to do any advanced security options or anything else beyond the VPN connectoid settings which I know are correct.

It’s a very simple connection to setup in the W2K machines, but using the EXACT settings on the XP machines and it won’t connect. It hangs at the infamous “Error 721”.

Interesting fact: one of the XP laptops USED to be able to connect OK. But then I brought it into the office and set it up as a user on the LAN. Now, outside the LAN trying to get in thru VPN — no go. The other PC had also been a workstation on the internal lan, til we sent it out to a remote site.
