VPN connects, but can’t ping anything

by muppetgrinder . Updated 16 years, 11 months ago

Hi

I have set up a VPN in my office, using a Draytech Vigor 2600 as the Host. I then went home and created a new VPN connection on my XPpro machine. Connected the VPN no problem. Ran IPConfig -all and got shown the IP’s on both networks ok. Then tryed to ping the SBS server and got timeouts. Tryed to ping my work PC and the same thing. tryed to ping a bunch of other IP’s on the work network and again, same thing. I am connecting through a netgear 6port 10/100 Switch running to the lan port of an Orange Livebox at my home, with DMZ set to my comp. The settings for the VPN are the same as the guy who used to work here, and he can connect fine (he now works for a partnered company). The SBS server is not used for any network delegation what so ever (cause it’s crap) and is only used so that the brass can get their email pushed to their HTC mobiles using the Exchange server on it, and a little bit of file hoasting. All the other comps sit on a workgroup.

I am at work just now, so can’t get you the IPConfig output just now, but I will post it when I get back.

Also both the office LAN and my home LAN are using 192.168.0.x / 255.255.255.0

what is it that I am missing to be able to access the resources through the VPN??

Thanks in advance
Ryan
