VPN, Frame Backup, and Firewall-1

by bwallis . Updated 25 years, 6 months ago

In an othersise Cisco shop, I have a Firewall-1 on Sun and have a variety of frame relay connections to it. These frames connect to other company sites, and from a firewall perspective we treat those sites as insecure as they may have connections to the Internet that we do not control.

So as backup for the frame connections, why not use VPN instead of more traditional ISDN dial-up? (Not so fast – that’s a rhetorical question.)

The REAL question is: HOW? Will FW1 do automatic failoverto the VPN? I understand Cisco routers can, but our VPN’s are Check Point at the moment.

400 points for good info… thanks…
