VPN installation screen disappears

Setting up VPN connection(using the windows xp vpn client)on a Toshiba Satellite notebook but just before finishing the setup, the VPN setup wizard screen just disappears.I have recently upgraded XP service pack 2 to XP service pack 3.Suspecting damage in the registry but i’m not so sure of it.Any ideas?
