VPN issues

I am trying to VPN into my network for file access. I have a BEFSR81 linksys router running on a dedicated DSL line. At home i’m using Windows XP Pro and the server I am trying to connect to is running Windows 2000 Server that contains all the files.

Sometimes I am able to connect to the network, however, I cannot gain access to the files on the server. There are times when I can’t even connect at all. If I took my computer and hook it up to a Cable line, then I do have access to the files.

I’ve double checked my settings at the server, router, and home and everything looks fine. Could this be a speed issue that I’m dealing with at the DSL site at home?
