VPN over dsl and cable ip’s

by jaytmoon . Updated 19 years, 3 months ago

I need to (if possible) connect my home pc (with a linksys wrt54g router using dsl) to my workplace which is using a Trendnet tw100-bvr304/e v2.0 router with comcast zoom cable modem). I have gone through all the steps to (try) connecting as per the trendnet site, including a “free” domain name using dyndns.org
When attempting to connect from home I get a message error 800, unable to establish the vpn connection, server unavailale, security settings etc.
I set up the trendnet router with minimum security just to get a connection (no encryption required) but I just can’t connect.
I also tried the remote desktop btw the 2 xp pro systems with the same result.
Any Idea’s
PS: I setting this up so I can work from home during a recovery from surgury (can’t drive)
