VPN – Proxy vs DNS

I am using Starband Satellite for Internet connection and they are using a proxy to get to http sites. My company allows VPN access through Checkpoint. How do I connect up using VPN? My understanding from my administrator is that I have to be able to disable the proxy in order to use VPN. Is there anything I can do that will allow me to use VPN to connect to our DNS? This is not my area of expertise but I believe that there has to be something I can do to keep from having to go to ISDN. My download speeds are reaching 1324 Kbps now and I don’t want to have to give it up. Please, help! I’m running Win2k Pro on a 750 MHz Laptop. I know this could be very detail oriented if there is a solution for this problem.
