VPN Support

I am running VPN through my Netopia R7100 series router, and I can connect and get through the firewall fine, but when I try to log onto my domain through the PDC (which is running WINS by the way, and I have the server’s IP address in my TCP/IP properties for WINS) it is giving me an error that a domain server is unavailable. I have explored also using an LMHOSTS file, but this is still getting me nowhere. Can some please help me. I am stuck in VPN purgatory.
