VPN with Internet Access

I have a couple of machines running Win2000 on a LAN with ADSL Internet via a hub & router.

We have a VPN connection to our hosting site for sql server maintenance of our web site. One of the machines is able to open the VPN connection and stillmaintain full connection to the Internet Windown messenger and e-mail, whereas the other machine loses all other Internet connectivity once it establishes the VPN connection.

No-one can remember how they achieved the full connectivity with the VPN connection on the one machine, but there is clearly parameter or switch somewhere that can be set. After much searching, I have failed to find it.

Can anyone assist with this non-urgent but downright frustrating problem?
