VPN with Netgear ProSafe or Windows VPN?

Does using the Netgear ProSafe VPN software hold any advantage (speed / security)over a regular Windows VPN?

There is only a VPN router on the server side and software clients on the outside.

Do you even need a VPN router when you use Vindows VPN client?
