VPN working in VISTA but not XP from remote to Server 03

My Task:I am trying to set up a VPN connection into a server 2003 file server.

My Problem: XP box that makes a successful connection can not view the files on the server. But the Vista box connected on the first try

The server has the roles File Server & Remote Access/VPN Server.

The computer I am using for the server has 2 nic cards 1 has private 192.168.1.249 the other is on a static public IP.

I have successfully created a VPN connection on the 2 remote pc’s (1vista, 1xp).

The server sees the connection from both pc’s with no apparent differences in the connection status(according to MMC>System Tools>Event Viewer>Security).

All Firewalls have been turned off
